Supervisor Nate Miley has nominated current Castro Valley Municipal Council (MAC) Chair Marc Crawford to serve on the Alameda County Planning Commission, according to the agenda posted for Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting. Crawford’s resignation from the MAC is also included on the agenda.
The Planning Commission is made up of seven members, and makes “plans, studies and recommendations for orderly development of the county.”
This will end Crawford’s nearly one decade of service on the MAC, where he currently serves as its Chair. With the previous announcement that Sheila Cuhna wold be leaving the MAC (her term expired in June 2019), this leaves at least two openings on the MAC, which serves as an advisory council to the Board of Supervisors about Castro Valley. Miley will now need to appoint two new members to the seven-member MAC.
Castro Valley Matters continues to support an elected MAC for Castro Valley, but encourages the public to apply to be on the Council so that it better reflects the community.
