Community signs, Safe Routes to School on Monday’s MAC agenda

Community

The Castro Valley Municipal Advisory Council meets tonight at 6:00 and will receive updates from Alameda County staff about “The Eden Area Signage Plan” and the Safe Routes to Schools Program.

Safe Routes to School

Safe Routes to School encourages walking, biking, carpooling, and public transit use in an effort to calm traffic around schools. The update will address Crow Canyon Road, where Creekside Middle School student Lana Carlos was killed in hit-and-run in February.

The Eden Area Signage Plan

For “The Eden Area Signage Plan,” a hawk was originally recommended to identify Castro Valley. Based on Council feedback and the results of an online survey, a new icon incorporating Lake Chabot is being developed.

Chick-fil-A next to Burger Island? Where’s the beef?
