Castro Valley is entirely within the borders of district 20 of the California State Assembly. Castro Valley Matters reached out to the state assembly candidates, Jaime Patino and Bill Quirk, for the 2014 General Election, asking them:
Unincorporated communities don’t have a seat at the table in Sacramento, whereas cities and counties have organizations that advocate for their interests. As an unincorporated community, Castro Valley faces significant challenges in advocating for its interests and securing public investment in infrastructure and services.
In your blog post, Castro Valley Matters would like to know what you would do in Sacramento to advocate for Castro Valley. Please identify one or more specific issues affecting Castro Valley residents and how you will tackle them.
Below are the responses, in alphabetical order:
We have previously published statements from candidates for CVUSD Board of Education, CVSan Board of Directors, and California State Senate. In the next week we will publish statements from candidates for US Congress.
Castro Valley Matters does not endorse or oppose any candidate for public office.
Rebecca Stanek-Rykoff asked this question on CV Maters faceBook page. “As someone who move to Castro Valley after 2002, is there any relation between political party and support of or opposition to incorporation? Or did both the incorporation movement and the opposition movement cross party lines?”
Below are the organization that endorsed Measure Q, Castro Valley incorporation:
Alameda County Central Labor Council
California Democratic Party, Alameda County Democratic Party
Castro Valley Chamber of Commerce
