CV Sanitary District Candidate Statement: Timothy McGowan
- By : Timothy McGowan
- Category : 2016 Candidate Statements, CVSAN
We asked all the candidates running for the CV Sanitary District to answer the following questions: What do you view as the biggest challenge facing CV San now, and how will you work to address it in the next four years? How does CV San impact Castro Valley, and how will you support a working partnership between your agency and the community? Finally, please address increased connection fees for residences and businesses. Are costs for CV San going up at the same rate, and are there new costs that were not anticipated? If so, what changed?
As a board member of the Castro Valley Sanitary District, I am asking for your vote so that I can continue to provide quality service, reasonable rates and proper long-term management of our resources.
I am proud of maintaining the second lowest sewer rates in Alameda County, reducing the amount of trash sent to the landfill by 16,000 tons a year, and continuing to be a leader in educating our community on the 4Rs (Reduce-Reuse-Recycle-Rot).
If re-elected my number one priority will be to continue weekly trash collection as I believe that “Less Than Weekly Garbage Service” is counter to our mission to protect public health. I will work to constraint the cost of our new administration building and continue our progress towards zero waste in the trash bin. I will use my engineering experience to manage our infrastructure and most importantly I will keep Castro Valley clean.
