John Maher is a candidate for CVSan Board in 2014. Castro Valley Matters reached out to each candidate, asking them to provide a statement.
I am the chair of the Community Advisory Committee that reports to the Castro Valley Sanitary Board (CVSan). On issues discussed at the Board meetings the Advisory Committee has no real weight and that is one of the reasons why I am seeking a position on the Board, so I can have a vote on issues that effect residents and businesses for all CVSan service areas.
I will be a full time Director. I have no special interests, and my only obligation would be to the residents and businesses within the CVSan service area.
At several of the Board Meetings I witnessed several residents having complaints and no resolutions offered by the Board. I would work for direct responses to these complaints.
- One of my issues is to keep rates as low as possible.
- Minimize the use of outside consultants.
- Periodically review Districts expenses
- Keep open communications with customers, and timely response to complaints.
My background and experience includes:
- Resident of Castro Valley for over 40 years
- Served on Civil Grand Jury
- Volunteer with senior citizens services in Castro Valley
I have also taken the time to ride in the CVSan trucks with the workers to familiarize myself with their operation
When elected as your Director I will work for your best interest
I want Castro Valley Sanitary to be the creative leader in service, recycling, and other community services.
I respectively ask for your vote for the Castro Valley Sanitary Board.
