It’s not too late

My contact at the California Department of Finance confirmed that as of this morning the currently submitted Long Range Property Management Plan (LRPMP) for Alameda County has not been approved and that it will be sent back to the Redevelopment Successor Agency for revision and approval by the Oversight Board.
So, what, does that even mean, you ask?
This means that our community still has an opportunity to influence the fate of the Daughtrey’s building site.
We can demand of the Oversight Board that it submit a revised report that includes a plan to tear down the building and classify the use for the site for a public space or a new building.
Here’s what you can do to help:
- Be at today’s MAC meeting at 6:00 at the Castro Valley Library. This is our first chance to truly talk about the Daughtrey’s site in a public venue.
- Inform yourself about the complex process of redevelopment dissolution. It’s not fun to understand, but once you have a sense of the factors that control the fate of the building, you will understand that there is a path for our community to assert itself in this process.
- Sign the the petition if haven’t.
