CVSan Board Member Melody Appleton endorses elected MAC

Alameda County

Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) Board Member Melody Appleton, who was the top vote-getter in the 2014 election for one of two seats on the CVSan board and is a member of Castro Valley Matters, has endorsed an elected MAC for Castro Valley.

I support an elected MAC for the citizens of Castro Valley. The MAC is an important land use advisory body to the Alameda County Board of Supervisors. While having no formal power, the MAC wields significant influence over land use in Castro Valley. Currently, the MAC is appointed by a single county supervisor. This process does not support accountability, transparency or fairness. An elected MAC is a step toward a more representative voice for Castro Valley residents in the County.

Chick-fil-A next to Burger Island? Where’s the beef?

When you consider how this location is a gateway to this community, how poorly conceived this intersection is, and the increasing traffic along 580, it is fair to question the wisdom of placing a new drive-thru restaurant here.
